Faculty Position in AI-Driven Musculoskeletal Research Yale University School of Medicine – Department of Orthopaedics & Rehabilitation
The Department of Orthopaedics & Rehabilitation at Yale University School of Medicine invites applications for a faculty position (Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor) in the tenure track for candidates with expertise in artificial intelligence (AI) and a strong interest in musculoskeletal (MSK) research and/or orthopedic surgery. Applicants must hold a PhD and/or MD (or equivalent degree) and demonstrate outstanding qualifications in research and education.
Areas of Interest Include:
Artificial intelligence and machine learning applications in musculoskeletal medicine and orthopedic surgery
Biomedical data science and modeling relevant to MSK health
Image analysis and computer vision for orthopedic imaging
Clinical informatics and outcomes research in orthopedics
Precision medicine and personalized approaches to MSK disorders
Biomechanical modeling, simulation, and computational orthopedics
Integration of AI with electronic medical records and surgical workflows
Responsibilities:
Establish and maintain a vigorous, independently funded research program in AI-driven musculoskeletal science
Collaborate with clinical and research faculty in orthopedics, engineering, and data science
Supervise and mentor students, residents, and fellows from diverse backgrounds
Contribute to the educational missions of the department and Yale School of Medicine
Foster an environment of collaboration, innovation, and scientific discovery
Requirements
PhD and/or MD (or equivalent) with demonstrated expertise in AI, data science, or related fields
Track record of independent, creative research accomplishments
Track record of federally funded (NSF, NIH, etc) research
Interest or experience in musculoskeletal research and/or orthopedic surgery is preferred
Strong scientific, management, and interpersonal skills
