- Director of Systems & Infrastructure
Description
Deep Fission is pioneering a new generation of underground, borehole-deployed pressurized water reactors. Our mission is to deliver cost-effective, scalable, and safe nuclear power that meets the world’s growing demand for clean energy.
We are seeking a Director of Systems & Infrastructure to provide executive leadership in implementing the IT and technical infrastructure that will support Deep Fission from conceptual design through licensing and commercial deployment.
This role is not about hands-on design, or development work. Instead, it focuses on building and integrating the digital systems, tools, and quality frameworks that enable our engineering teams to succeed, with QA processes embedded where possible to ensure compliance and efficiency.
What You’ll Lead
Implementation of NQA-1 quality assurance systems, ensuring they are integrated into IT workflows.
Development of digital engineering infrastructure (model-based systems engineering tools, requirement traceability platforms, and digital thread integration) to support engineering teams.
Integration of AI/ML tools into engineering and operational workflows (e.g., for predictive maintenance, workflow automation, safeguards, or autonomy), focusing on tool adoption and infrastructure setup.
Oversight of IT-supported workflows for corrective actions, non-conformance tracking, procurement, training content hosting, calibration, and executable operational procedures.
Leadership of cross-functional teams to adopt and sustain these infrastructure systems, fostering a culture of efficient tool usage.
Requirements
What We’re Looking For
Experience leading IT/technical infrastructure and quality systems in nuclear, aerospace, or other regulated industries, with a proven track record of enabling engineering teams.
Familiarity with digital engineering platforms (e.g., Innoslate, Epsilon3, PLM) and their implementation as supportive tools.
Demonstrated ability to apply AI/ML in engineering environments — such as predictive maintenance, automated verification, or workflow optimization — while focusing on infrastructure and adoption.
Proven ability to build and scale technical support organizations, drive adoption of new IT tools, and engage effectively with regulators and partners.
A vision for how Deep Fission can leverage integrated IT infrastructure, digital tools, and quality systems over the next five years to enable safe and efficient nuclear innovation.
