The Senior Employment and Compliance Counsel Americas Role
We are looking for a strategic, pragmatic, and collaborative Senior Employment and Compliance Counsel Americas to join our global legal team. This role will be primarily responsible for employment and compliance matters across the United States, Canada, Brazil, Mexico and other parts of Latin America. You will provide practical legal advice and solutions that support our business goals while ensuring compliance with regional labor laws and company policies.

Heres how youll be making an impact:
- Provide day-to-day legal counsel to HR, business leaders, and other stakeholders on employment matters, including hiring, employee benefits, performance management, employee relations, mobility, internal investigations, terminations, independent contractor classification and wage and hour issues.
- Advise on employment law compliance across the Americas region (U.S., Canada, Brazil and Mexico), including evolving regulatory requirements.
- Serve as legal advisor on strategic workforce planning initiatives, including reductions in force (RIFs), reorganizations, and global restructurings, ensuring compliance with applicable labor laws and risk mitigation best practices.
- Draft, review, and update employment-related agreements, policies, handbooks, and procedures.
- Lead or support internal investigations involving employee complaints, whistleblower claims, or workplace misconduct.
- Support management of code of conduct and ethics-related matters, including reviews of conflict-of-interest disclosures.
- Support regional and global HR teams with employee training programs, DEI initiatives, and compliance audits.
- Manage and respond to employment-related claims, litigation, administrative agency charges, and pre-litigation disputes.
- Partner with external counsel as needed on complex employment law matters.
- Monitor legal and regulatory developments affecting the Americas workforce and advise on potential impact to the business.
- Contribute to global employment legal strategy and cross-functional initiatives, in coordination with legal team colleagues in EMEA and APAC.
- Support other compliance and regulatory matters as assigned.
Were looking for a teammate with:
- J.D. from an accredited U.S. law school and licensed to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
- Minimum 5 years of experience at a top-tier law firm (additional in-house counsel experience in software or tech industry a plus).
- Demonstrated expertise in U.S. employment law; experience with Canadian and/or Latin American employment law strongly preferred.
- Experience advising HR and business leaders in a fast-paced, matrixed environment.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to present complex legal issues in a clear and practical manner.
- Proactive, collaborative, and able to independently manage a diverse range of matters.
- Business-oriented mindset with sound judgment and a focus on risk mitigation.

The anticipated base salary range for this role is $ 144,580.00 USD MIN $180,730.00 MAX per year. Final compensation offered by Qlik will be based on factors such as the candidates location, job-related skills, education, experience, and other business and organizational needs.
