Company Profile

Victim Rights Center of Connecticut, Inc.
Company Overview
Victim Rights Center of Connecticut, Inc. is a non-profit center providing quality legal support to victims of sexual assault, child abuse, elder abuse, homicide, and violence against people identifying as lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender, regardless of income.
VRCC provides victim-focused services that are outside the reach or contemplation of the traditional criminal justice system but which are critical to protecting a survivor’s rights, privacy and dignity.
Company History
Victim Rights Center of Connecticut was founded in October 2013. We have an ever-growing client base, and are pursuing funding as a non-profit organization. The Executive Director, James Clark, has years of experience helping victims, as an advocate, state court prosecutor, subject matter expert for victim and offender behavior for the US Army JAG school, and legal advocate for crime victims. Recent donations have allowed us to engage an Associate Attorney, doubling our capacity to serve clients. We are beginning a special drive to match a $25,000 gift to fund a third attorney.
Notable Accomplishments / Recognition
The only organization in Connecticut, and one of the few in the nation, offering comprehensive legal representation to victims of violent crime, regardless of income. We serve our clients without attorney's fees. Most of our clients, however, require help that does not involve filing a law suit.
Benefits
At this time, Victim Rights Center is unable to offer benefits, as we are a very young organization, dependent on donors to fund our operations. As a funding stream is secured, VRCC intends to offer paid sick leave and vacation.
VRCC does reimburse travel expenses at the non-profit rate determined by the IRS.
